Volkswagen Bratislava Plant

Automotive industry is one of the fastest growing industries in Slovakia, mainly due to foreign investments of Volkswagen, Peugeot and Kia Motors. Slovakia`s car industry accounted for one-quarter of GDP and one-third of the country`s exports.

The Volkswagen Bratislava Plant is an automotive factory and co-located test track in Bratislava, Slovakia owned by Volkswagen Group. A guided tour of a Volkswagen/Audi/Porsche car assembly factory is offered. We will visit the Bratislava plant, one of the largest and most sophisticated in the world.

Hydro-Power Plant Gabčíkovo

The Hydro-Power Plant (HPP) Gabčíkovo is situated on the Danube rive rin the central part of the Danubian Lowland (in Slovak "Podunajská nížina"). Its construction was based on a combination of flood control, navigational improvements, production of electrical energy, and protection of nature. The hydroelectric power station consists of four blocks in which eight vertical Kaplan turbines with generators have been installed.

HPP Gabčíkovo is the country´s largest HPP in terms of electricity generation. By the HPP there are also ship locks of the international waterway Rhyne-Mohan-Danube, as the head- water channel to the HPP forms part of this international waterway.
